My classroom looks very different than most.  We work in small groups; lesson plans and assignments are individualized to meet the particular needs of each student, as stated in their Individualized Education Plan.  I typically do not assign homework.  Instead, work is completed in class where I can observe frustration levels, strategies, generalization, and finally mastery of skills.  We will not move on until each individual demonstrates a level of understanding.  This may mean that individual students may be working on different objectives.  Work would only be considered 'late' if behavior intereferes with the completion of assignments. 

Lesson plans are designed to follow general education's plans as closely as possible while focusing on the IEP.
