Westbrook Honored on Retirement
LHS Math teacher Darrel Westbrook was honored at the employee luncheon on May 19 with a retirement plaque and a cake. Mr. Westbrook has blessed a large number of students who have passed through his classroom over the years, and he will definitely be missed at Lindsay ISD. He is pictured with Superintendent Steve Cope. Thanks to Mrs. Westbrook for the picture.

Ahlmark Competes in State Contest
Lindsay Senior Gage Ahlmark qualified for the state Theatrical Design competition! He traveled to Austin May 1 to show off his design and competed for a medal on May 3.
Greenhouse/Floral Design News
Students in Ms. Pavliska's classes have been really busy with projects in April. The floral design class made crepe paper corsages to practice necessary taping and wiring skills. The greenhouse class is enjoying the newly-constructed greenhouse and have been working in there on projects. Photo gallery.
Career Class Volunteers at VISTO
Students in Mrs. Hedrick's Career Preparation class volunteered at VISTO on April 21, begging and boxing up 350 Backpack Buddies packs. VISTO distributes over 900 Backpack Buddy packs every week.
Wolf, Foster Sign with A&M Commerce
Lindsay High School Bass Fishing standouts Nicholas Wolf and Dawson Foster signed a letter of intent to compete at Texas A&M Commerce on April 20. They are pictured with Tristan White, president of the college’s Bass Fishing team. The ceremony was attended by family and friends. We have a photo gallery of the event here.

Graduation is May 27
Graduation for the LHS Class of 2023 will be on Friday, May 27. The event will be in the main gym and will begin at 7:00 pm.
8th Grade Concludes Study of Shakespeare
Students in Mrs. Dunlap's 8th Grade Literature class enjoyed a "High Tea" at the end of the the Romeo and Juliet unit on February 24. In addition to tea, there was also a large amount of food for the students to enjoy. Photo gallery.
Fishing Team Enjoys Success
The Lindsay Bass Fishing Team had a great day fishing February 11 on Lake Ray Hubbard. They finished 2nd overall as a school and had 3 in the top 25. Nick Wolf and Dawson Foster finished 3rd overall with 12.18 pounds and won a $500 scholarship. Cutter Cheaney and Lane Foster finished 19th with 4.80 pounds, and Corey Metzler and Dayne Meurer had 4.38 pounds.
Floral Classes Work on Projects
Students in Ms. Pavliska's Floral Design classes have been hard at work completing various arrangements. Thanks for Ms. Pavliska for the pictures.
Biology Class Completes DNA Project
Mrs. Keith's Honors Biology class spent time in January learning about the process of DNA replication. Students then built a paper model of DNA to simulate replication. It was a great hands-on learning opportunity for all to participate in.
8th Graders Work on Project in Literature Class
Students in Mrs. Dunlap's 8th Grade Literature class are in the process of reading "Romeo and Juliet," and part of that unit is creating masks that infer things about the characters in the play. We have a photo gallery of the fun here.
A&P Class Dissects Cow Bones
On January 13, students in Mrs. Barnhill's class dissected cow bones to get a first-hand look at bone and joint structures. Our high school students gave some 7th grade science students a demonstration of the process as they looked on. Thank you Hess Meat Market & Grocery for providing the materials!
JH UIL Winners Honored
Lindsay Junior High held a ceremony on January 13 that recognized those who won awards at the recent Academic UIL Competition, which Lindsay won. Pictured are all of the students who placed in an event.
HS Class Visits Kindergarten
Students in Mrs. Hedrick's Principles of Human Services class made a visit to the Kindergarten on December 6 to prevent the snowmen they made to each of the kindergarten students. The snowmen were made out of pictures that the kindergarten students had colored. Photo gallery.
Bass Club Season is Going Well
Congratulations to the Lindsay HS Bass Club. Lindsay as a school is currently in 5th place in the North Texas Division of the Texas High School Bass Association. There are 44 schools with approximately 243 boats in the North Texas Division. They have 2 more tournaments left in regular season: February 11 and March 11.

Students in Coach Duncan's 8th Grade Science classes recently completed roller coaster projects. Students were learning about gravity, friction, and acceleration for these projects.

Metzler is Crowned Homecoming Queen

A&P Class Performs "Pickle Autopsies"
Students in Mrs. Barnhill's Anatomy and Physiology class practiced using dissection tools by doing pickle autopsies on September 1. Injuries consisted of strangulation, parasites, brain tumors, explosions, gunshots, and stab wounds. We have a photo gallery of this event here.
