District Librarian, Cheerleading Sponsor & Author, Janis Blackwell

Welcome!Ms. Janis BlackwellThe Adventures of the Cactus Kids and Friends

I have had the pleasure of serving as head librarian at Lindsay ISD for the last four years.

In my free-time, in addition to riding  horses and competing in barrel racing, I’m also authoring a book series entitled, “The Adventures of the Cactus Kids and Friends.”

Book one in the series is available for download  as an ebook  -and- in print at Amazon and Barnes and Noble. You can click the book cover for more info. Also you may Click Here or visit to view my author’s web page.

Happy reading...

Ms. Blackwell

Lindsay High School Library & Resource Center

The Lindsay ISD libraries are proud to offer both hard copy library books and access to the TexQuest databases. for our students use.   TexQuest , provided largely by our state legislature, consists of 18 databases covering the wide range of topics our students research.  These sources are easily accessed even from home.   These resources are available to all students with the use of LISD logons/passwords.

Our High School Library Catalog is linked on this page as well so that all students can access it at any time to see if a particular book is in our junior high and high school collection.

Our elementary students participate in a number of programs to encourage reading.  Yearly, they will read with Mrs. Rauschuber all the books nominated for the Blue Bonnet Award and then vote on them.  They also participate in Read to Succeed, Book It, and Accelerated Reader.  In addition, we host an annual book fair each fall which is phenominally successful and also helps keep our students reading.  We have a very strong team of teachers, administrators, librarians and parents who emphasize and support the importance of reading in the children’s lives.  I believe this greatly contributes to the success we enjoy academically both in competition and on state tests.  Thank you to the whole team.
