Position: Elementary Classroom Teacher
 
PRIMARY PURPOSE: Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences in the core academic subject area assigned to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society.
 
QUALIFICATIONS: 
 
Education/Certification: Bachelor’s degree from accredited university Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements or training for subject and level assigned 
 
Special Knowledge/Skills:
 
Knowledge of core academic subjects
 
Knowledge of curriculum and instruction
 
Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
 
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skill
 
Experience:
 
One year student teaching or approved internship
 
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
• Develops and implements lesson plans that fulfill the requirements of curriculum and show written evidence of preparation as required. Prepares lessons that reflect accommodations for individual student differences.
• Plans and uses appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, equipment, and technology that reflect understanding of the learning styles and needs of student’s assigned and present subject matter according to guidelines established by Texas Education Agency, board policies, and administrative regulations.
• Conducts assessments of student learning styles and use results to plan instructional activities.
• Works cooperatively with special education teachers to modify curricula as needed for special education students according to guidelines established in Individual Education Plans (IEP).
• Works with other members of staff to determine instructional goals, objectives, and methods according to district requirements.  
• Conducts ongoing assessments of student achievement through formal and informal testing.
• Assumes responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned. Sponsors outside activities approved by the campus principal.
• Is a positive role model for students; support mission of school district. • Creates classroom environments conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students.
• Manages student behavior in accordance with Student Code of Conduct and student handbook.
• Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
• Assists in selecting books, equipment, and other instructional materials.
• Compiles, maintains, and files all reports, records, and other documents as required. • Establishes and maintains a professional relationship and open communication with parents, students, colleagues, and community members.
• Participates in staff development activities to improve job-related skills.
• Complies with state, district, and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers.
• Attends and participates in faculty meetings and serves on staff committees as needed
• Other duties as assigned.
 
WORKING CONDITIONS:
 
Mental Demands: Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written); interprets policy, procedures and data; coordinates district functions; maintains emotional control under stress.
 
Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: Frequent district-wide and occasional statewide travel; occasional prolonged and irregular hours. Frequent standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, pushing and pulling. Occasional lifting up to 50 pounds. Prolonged use of computer and repetitive hand motions.
 
MINIMUM SALARY: Teacher Salary Scale
 
TERM OF CONTRACT: 187 days per year

Bus Drivers
Applications are now being accepted for Substitute and Activity Bus Drivers. Must have CDL and pass background and drug test. Apply in person at the Administration Office located at 495 6th St. between the hours of 8:00 am and 4:00 pm.
